Are you getting married soon?

I know that planning a wedding can be mind boggling. There are so many decisions to be made and so many people to please. Of course I’ve never planned a wedding myself, but I’ve watched and been involved with hundreds of brides (and grooms) while they tried to sort it all out. It’s stressful. However, occasionally there are really fun things that come along in which you can participate. That is what the bridal event at Finch is all about. Finch is a boutique in the 2nd Street District in Austin that carries unique gifts and home furnishings – and by “unique,” I mean hip and cool. Not crafts fair style.* In addition to visiting with Austin’s finest wedding vendors, you’ll be able to enjoy champagne, and there will be an exclusive giveaway and prizes too.
So, come see me at Finch on Thursday, February 5th from 5-8pm. I’ll be tossing around discounts like a girl who recognizes a recession when I see one.

See you there!

**Ashley Garmon Photographers has nothing against a good crafts fair.

Finch is located at 417 West 2nd Street Austin, Texas 78701

When a wedding photographer gets married.

Lots of other wedding photographers show up with cameras. We really can’t help ourselves. So, when Heather Mabry got married to Mike Banks last weekend in Playa del Carmen, there were six of us shooting. Only Gia was officially in charge but Jennifer Lindberg, Diana M Lott, Stacy Sodolak, Vanessa Escobedo Barba were also in attendance with cameras in hand. It was pretty funny! I can’t wait to see all their photos too. It’s safe to say that Heather and Mike were well documented. Even though maybe we were a little bit of a spectacle ourselves! Maybe….

Big props to Gina from Clink for not only pulling together such an amazing wedding but also being an honorary bridesmaid AND officiating the ceremony!

Holga – NYC

I took this photo when I was in New York in October. Those of you who are photographers know what she’s doing. Although it’s not something you see much of anymore.

Have a good Wednesday evening,

Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you Evie. The fabulous Evie.

**WARNING – this post involves a LOT of gushing**

So, I met Evie in Playa Del Carmen last weekend. She’s pretty awesome. I know that I talk a lot about how great the kids are that I photograph, and they ARE great! But I wasn’t photographing Evie. She was with us for Heather and Mike’s wedding (pictures coming soon) and she hung out with the adults all the time and was a precious little angel. I think I heard her cry once. Her sign language is stellar. She shared her cheerios with one of the adults who had a bad hangover. What can I say? We totally bonded. BFFs. Seriously. OK, maybe that’s just me.

Anyway, thanks for bringing the rainbow and the sunshine to Playa, Evie!!

The last shoot of 2008.

We drove to Fredricksburg, TX for this engagement session with Kim and Charlie. It was a gorgeous and warm winter day – perfect for trolling around old German school houses and sitting in fields. I enjoy spending my days doing these things.

I hope 2009 is going well for you all so far. I haven’t seen anyone sleeping in public yet this year. But I’m ready for it! Stay tuned!
