Jessica via the Holga camera

I brought my Holga camera to my bride, Jessica’s bridal portrait in Houston a few weeks ago.  It’s always a gamble to shoot with this particular camera.  You never know what you’ll get, if anything at all.

This is a nice one though, so I thought I’d share.

I’m off to Washington DC in a few days to shoot an engagement portrait.  I’m really excited to be shooting in a city that I’ve never visited before.  It’s wedding season, so things are bananas around here!  Maybe not the best time to schedule a portrait on the east coast.  However, I opted for better weather rather than the convenience of scheduling.  So, stay away rain and heat!

Have a great weekend!

Emily & Matteson at Green Pastures in Austin

My sweet friends Emily and Matteson tied the knot on a perfect Spring evening in Austin recently.  The event was held at Green Pastures and beautifully designed and planned by The Byrd Collective and Bird Dog Weddings.

After they tied the knot, they danced and they danced an they danced…..as they should!

Have a great weekend, y’all!

Classic wedding in San Antonio

I love this sweet classic wedding we shot in the bride’s hometown of San Antonio.  The ceremony was held at Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church and the reception at The Argyle Club.

We actually shot it last Spring.  It’s funny that sometimes life moves so fast and when we are in high wedding season, the images come in and go out very quickly.  I was revisiting this wedding today when I was looking back at our 2012 weddings, and I found myself thinking “Oh, I really like that picture!”  And the weird thing is, that I TOOK that picture.  But when you are shooting thousands of images and there are deadlines, you just keep moving forward.  I do, anyway.  Perhaps I will try and sit more with my images in the future.  I am trying to take less weddings, so this might actually be able to happen.

Anyway, that’s what I am doing today.  Thinking about slowing down to enjoy this all a little bit more….

We’ll see,

Jessica and Thomas marry in New Orleans

Back in December, we traveled To New Orleans to shoot the wedding of Jessica and Thomas at La Trobe’s on Royal.  It’s always fun to shoot in New Orleans, but I especially like the intimacy and relaxed nature of this wedding.  Marry in the morning, brunch and then walk across The Quarter to celebrate for the rest of the day.  No rush, no crazy time line, just go with the flow…

Following the brunch at La Trobe’s on Royal, the entire wedding reception partook in the great New Orleans tradition of the second line.  Which in my opinion, is the very best way to end a wedding!

Thank you Jessica and Thomas for choosing us to capture these moments for you!

Wild & decadent photo shoot with The Byrd Collective

My sweet and talented friend, Ashley Bailey of The Byrd Collective recruited me to photograph this styled shoot in December.  It was wild and the models had so much fun looking outrageous and beautiful!  It was definitely something different for me too.  Head over to style guru, Camille Styles’, blog to see more about it.

Thanks again for including me, Ash!

Win an Heirloom hanger today on JUNEBUG WEDDINGS!

Hey brides-to-be!  Heirloom is part of a holiday giveaway over on junebug.com. What is Heirloom?  Well, after years of photographing wedding dresses on plastic (or wire hangers from the dry cleaners) I decided there had to be something better.  So with the help of some talented friends, I have created a handmade hanger, customized for each client.  This hanger will dramatically improve the portrait of your gown on your wedding day.

To enter the contest, all you have to do is leave a comment on the link and let them know about the bridal fashion which you are most excited about for your wedding day.  It’s that easy!

Good luck!
